MR RAY D CROUT MQ 'Ghz' jfnrh has razlleh him hnmr but he lrfi us with thc numnrg uf x gclttlrnum hrimtrh in his lgumr, his srhnul, his ruuuirg, :nth his muh. With these memorable words, Miss Estelle Stone informed the students and faculty of the death of Mr. Ray D. Crout, beloved former principal of South Division. Mr. Crout passed away on May 12, 1954, in Sarasota, Florida, at the age of seventy-five. Coming to South in 1937, Pop, as he was affectionately called by his students, worked conscientiously for the well-being of all those with whom he came in contact. By enthusiastically backing bond and paper drives during World War ll, he kindled a great bon- fire of patriotism for South Divisionitcs and citizens of the surround- ing community. The organ in Coblentz hall is a constant reminder of him and his wholeliearted promotion of the organ fund drive. In a memorial day program Principal Earl Fricker appropriately expressed the feelings of the combined faculty and studenty body by sa ing, Mr. Crout is not dead. He lives in the heart of every person wfio ever knew him. SOUTH LOSES A BELOVED FRIEND If
