Executive Director jack R. Gallagher Q, SOUTH cARouNA so-loot fLL,jf'E, FOR THE DEAF AND THE BLIND Nsgimnisrixfea JACK D' SPARTANBURG. SOUTH CAROLINA 293492 803-585-7711 To The Graduates Of 1977: Many citizens view schools today with a certain amount of skepticism. One reason for this is the realization that the mere attendance of Students in schools for twelve or thirteen years does not necessarily assure that all students are adequately prepared to meet the increasingly complex challenges of later life. Unlike a few decades back when change came very slowly and the demands for living were more predictable, today's graduates are faced with only one certainty, the certainty that change will come even more rapidly in the future. As a result, students today face perhaps greater challenges than have been faced by any previous generation of Americans. Our School's major role is to help you meet these challenges and meet them well. We have not only tried to provide you with a foundation of skills which will be helpful to you in your later vocations, but we have also tried to help you develop competencies necessary to live well. As a result, the ultimate measure of how well our School has done its job is how well you do in the future. We are confident that you will do well. Although you are turning a major corner in life, we are hopeful that you will continue to support our School as alumni and will continue meaningful, lifelong relationships. Good luck, and my personal best wishes to each of you. an me Q. ,J Jack R. Gallagher Executive Director
