A Division A-Gang is composed of a group of hard-charging men committed to the well-being of the ship and her crew. They are the Mr. Fix-its of the SOUTH CAROLINA. The men of Auxiliaries Division deal with the everyday upkeep and maintenance of shipboard machinery from the foc's1e to the fantail. We repair and oversee four air conditioning units and the ship's service steam system in order to maintain the crews comfort. Refrigeration units keep the large amount of food onboard fresh and ready for the crew's appetite. The men of A division care for the ship's small boats, emergency diesel generators, helicopter refueling equipment and electronic equipment cooling. If all of this is not enough, they also stay busy operating and maintaining the Anchor windlass, Steer- ing gear, Hydraulic systems, Service air systems, Conveyors, Galley and Bcullery equipment, and any other unclaimed ma- chinery. If the men of A division get called to the problem, one can be assured that it will be fixed! So it is said , . .
