Division CE Division is a highly trained group of moti- vated Electronics Technicians, whose responsibili- ties are as diverse as the electronic equipment that make up a modern Navy warship. From radars for long range aircraft detection, or safe ship naviga- tion to the IFF so we know who those units are and vice versa. The radio equipment to communicate to a ship on the horizon or by satellite to half way around the world and the crypto to keep it secure. The comm equipment that allows NTDS to Link to the TACAN to allow aircraft to find. The Global Positioning System tells where the ship is to within 50 feet. ' 2 G F DjViS1011 CF Division operates and maintains the ship's fire control weapon systems designed for offensive or defensive power projection in naval gunfire sup- port, anti-air warfare, and anti-surface warfare. The division is manned by thirty f irecontrolmen, di- vided into six work centers, maintaining five dis- tinctly different fire control systems. These systems consist of computers, radars, and various support equipment which direct the ship's missiles and gunnery on target. CF division also performs many collateral duties including - Xerox copier re- pair, Zenith computer repair, ship's Security Force, Sea Detail, Weapons handling, Quarterdeck watches, Damage Control, and Topside preserva- tion.
