CD D'ViSi011 CD Division is the home of the Data Systems Technician. These technicians are divided into 3 different areas of expertise, Computer Periph., Data Display and Link. All 3 of these areas make up the ships Naval Tactical Data System QNTDSQ . NTDS allows the ship to have a real time picture of the tactical situation and provides the means to make integrated command and control decisions. The Link system is maintained by DS3 Perdue while the Data Display system is maintained by DSZQSWJ Kumley, DS3 Garrett and DS3 Vedros and the Computer Periph. system is maintained by DS3 Pickering and DS3 Stein. Division CE Division is a highly trained group of moti- vated Electronics Technicians, whose responsibili- ties are as diverse as the electronic equipment that make up a modern Navy warship. From radars for long range aircraft detection, or safe ship naviga- tion to the IFF so we know who those units are and vice versa. The radio equipment to communicate to a ship on the horizon or by satellite to half way around the world and the crypto to keep it secure. The comm equipment that allows NTDS to Link to the TACAN to allow aircraft to find. The Global Positioning System tells where the ship is to within 50 feet. The SNAP equipment to test equipment needed to maintain everything from Nuclear Reac- tors to Weapons Systems, the ET's ably fill the niche on the ship when it comes to electronic readi- ness. 1. .- 4'3.
