X D'Visi011 X Division gathers together a wide variety of talents in 7 workcenters and provides various ser- vices to the crew. In Personnel, Legal Admin, Ship's Office, Chaplain's Office, and the Career Counselor's Office the paperwork never seems to end. Service record entries, report chits, power of attorney forms, POD's, CO's correspondence, Red Cross messages, re-enlistments and the like are a never ending source of employment. The 3M Coordi- nator provides constant training and assistance in the material maintenance onboard. The Master-At- Arms force ensures that good order and discipline is maintained while our Postal Clerk remains the most popular man on board as he spends many liber- ty hours chasing down our letters and packages. Fi- nally with the entire division helping out the Crew's Library has continued to remain one of the quiet comfortable places for the crew to relax and engage their minds in more enjoyable pursuits. A V Division The Quartermasters and Signalmen are the experts that make Navigation Division tick. The Quartermasters are the ships navigation specialists. They plot our ship's course through the open oceans and the narrow channels. They are also responsible for keeping an up to date watch on their geo-physical surroundings. The stars above and the lights below keep the Quartermasters ON THE RIGHT TRACK. The Signalmen are the eyes of the ship. They serve as lookouts and identifiers. Nothing gets by the BIG EYES of our signalmen. The SM's are also visual communication experts. Flashing light, Flag Hoists, Semaphore hand signals are a few of the means by which our Signalmen ensure timely communications are achieved. All of Navigation Dept. proved to be a major asset to the ships overall success in OPERATION DESERT SHIELD. The QM's and SM's manned the M-60 machine guns during all the boarding op- erations. The Signalmen kept the visual communi- cations while the Quartermasters kept an accurate account of all events. , --'-' 1 New X .ff V 7, .p ix fx.
