The Operations Specialists involvement ranges from safe radar navigation of the ship to conducting naval gunfire support operations. Some are trained as Air Con- trollers for anti-submarine .and anti-air warfare operations. They are the eyes of the ship , alertly watching radar scopes, performing tracking functions on charts and plotting tables, monitoring radio car- cuits in the exchange of information with other units of the fleet, and standing ready to respond to any variety of assignments.
