QU! Paced by last year's lettermen, Gahen, Wolff, and O'Neal, this year's Soldan-Blewett golf team swung into action against Beaumont. The early form of this year's team composed of I-lolt, Lewis, Gahen, O'Neal, Spence, Litzman, Gilbert, Spiegelglass, and Wolff, showed many hours of diligent driving and putting practice. The schedule this year shows the boys meeting the public high school teams as well as many county teams. They are, however, without any league organization this year. Coach Plaq, who keeps a watchful eye on his hill and dale men, feels confident of a successful season. The entire school will look forward to the golf team adding its usual number of laurels to the name of Soldan-Blewett. Eighty-two FIRST ROW: Holt, Lewis, Gahen O'Nea1. Veterans Stanley Rosenbloom and Marty Migdal, the distance men, Bob Schaap, individual medly swimmer, and Ken Rothman and Hugh Wilson, the backstrokers, formed the nucleus ot an ex- perienced and well-balanced team. Up and coming freshman Al Lever appeared to give the team the necessary strength for a successful season. The team dropped its opener to St. Louis U. High but came back to beat McKinley in its inaugural league meet and looked forward to constant improvement as the season prog- ressed. The fellows eagerly awaited to com- pete in the annual state meet at Wilson Pool, Washington University. The competition was extremely rugged inasmuch as some of the best swimmers throughout the state were pres- ent. While many came close to placing, no firsts were taken. Lettermen this year are: Breen, Heiman, Migdall, Kodner, Schaap, and Gallagher.
