The Concert Band is an organization which has a great part in contributing to the school spirit ot Soldan-Blewett. The band is present at every football game. It not only plays marches dur- ing the game, but it puts on a special show during halves. The band plays at special pep sessions, and also during other auditorium sessions. With the cooperation of the vocal groups it presents a fall and spring concert. Members of the band often entertain at the Mothers' Club meetings. The band also par- ticipates in many civic parades. Anyone with an interest in music can become a member of the Concert Band. Membership can be achieved by progression through Iunior and Intermediate Band. It can also be achieved by an examination.

unior ana! ana! Orchedfra Members of the band receive letters based on the length and amount of service which each has contributed. After the letter is re- ceived, he may receive arm bands, signifying additional service. The Concert Band meets daily during the A period in roorn B24, and is under the able dis rection of Mr. ls. Mantese. Not only does the whole band rehearse together, but there are :sectional rehearsals. The lead members of each section may aid the other members by :special instruction or by helping them during rehearsals. The Board of Education furnishes the large instruments, uniforms, and music, Students tiirmsli the smaller instruments.
