Miss Adele Thyrn Eascinatin' Rhythm Makers urea! Wudic Music is the key that opens the door to a happy life. lt is the ultimate goal of the musical student body of Soldan-Blewett to become well-versed in music appreciation and performance. This goal is a reality of most of these students be- cause of the able leadership of Miss Thym. Each year more than 300 students are placed in various groups and become part of the music family. The ambition of all these students is to reach the A Cappella Choir, which now has seventy members. The Choir is the senior music group and represents the student body throughout the city. An example of this would be the fine caroling done over the Christmas holidays and television programs as well as programs for civic groups such as college club and Womens Club of Richmond Heights. Charninade, named after Madame Chaminade C1861-l944l because of her recognition as the first woman composer, is divided into two groups of girls. The most advanced is called Senior Chaminade which has sixty-eight mem- bers. These girls work diligently and particif pate in many school programs, Also there is lunior Chaminade which strives to teach nec' essities in correct singing. After they achieved this they may advance into more experienced groups. Another music group which is considered outt- standing is the Boys' Glee Club with twenty seven members. These boys have fine voices which have been developed after a few terms. Vocal Ensemble is a mixed group composed of students who wish to become more profi cient in tone blending and parts Not only is singing done but records are played. Well known alumni often visit and perform for them. lunior Chorus is strictly for freshmen, Here students come three times a week in order to qualify later for more advanced groups. The members become acquainted with Soldan Blewett's Music Department. The students feel that it is auite an honor to belong to the music family, They believe that each member is an honest, straight forward person able to set an example for the rest of the school, Everyone is invited to try out with Miss Thym, and become a member of our music family.
