Nash. .fdrf .fdlafareciafion The Art Appreciation Club under the sponsor- ship of Mr. Gronemeyer has completed another successful year. Seeking to appreciate and enjoy art to the fullest extent. the club has visited art galleries and various exhibitions at the Art Museum. Almost all the members are taking art in school and the club serves as a continuation of their studies. Other activi- ties include painting and sketching scenes in the vicinity of the school and in Forest Park. l.lM'lel'Cl, The Camera Club was established for the pur- pose of arousing interest in taking pictures and in darkroom work. At the meetings, lec- tures on subjects pertaining to photography are given. Pictures token by members are dis- cussed as to composition and lighting effects. Each member is required to pass at least one test each term indicating his progress. Several members entered photographic exhibitions in the Science Fair at Washington University. Brooks, unior la 6055 The Iunior Red Cross is an organization which works to make the lives ot men in the Veterans Hospitals happier. The members bring a little cheer to these patients through the gay gifts they make. They feel rewarded when they know that they have brought a little sunshine into the lives of these men. .WL CM The French Club, under the leadership ot Mrs. Rothman. unites all students who are interested in learning about the language and customs of France. At the meetings French games were played, French songs were sung. and movies were shown. This year the members also visited the Art Museum for an interesting lecture on Renaissance Art. Astronomical studies. this year. consisted of a lecture about Ga1ileo's life and about the geog- raphy ot the moon. Other events of importance included: a spec- tacular demonstration of electrical phenomena with the use ot a tesla coil: the study of the slide: lectures about the structure ot matter and the principle of the cyclotrong and visits through the science laboratories of St. Louis and Washing- ton Universities. gaoaiz The Agassiz Club is composed of a group of boys and girls interested in increasing their knowledge and enjoyment of nature. The weekly meeting at which such important topics as conservation and the various phenom- ena of nature are discussed. are highly informa- tive and interesting. During the term the Agassiz Club takes hikes to places of natural interest around St. Louis, gaining a first-hand oppor- tunity to study nature.
