Page Seventy-two gm., 64.4 HE Galileo Club origi- nated several years ago, taking its place as a phy- sics club in the St. Louis Junior Academy of Science. Members are induced to start both enjoyable and educational projects and the meetings are both in- teresting and stimulating. The Galileo Chapter at- tempts to guide its mem- bers to work and search for an understanding of this world and make it a better place to live in. 6'U'l'l2l CL HE main objective of the club this year was to teach each member how to do his own darkroom work. Advanced members gave demonstrations which in- cluded developing, printing, enlarging, and t o n i n g . Through illustrated lec- tures, furnished by East- man Kodak Company, members have widened their knowledge of more advanced photography and have viewed the works of experts in the field. Under the keen eye of Mr. Lyon, our sponsor, several print contests have been held, where we have studied the good and bad points of our picture taking. Club mem- bers have supplied informal pictures for the yearbook.

.Aff .fdiaiareciafion HE purpose of the Art Appreciation Club is to help us appreciate more intelligently the beauty around us, in nature, pic- tures, and all artistic crea- tions. In our club room, with our sponsor, Mr. Gronemeyer, We sketch, paint, and model in clay. When there is an interest- ing exhibit at the Art Mu- seum, We go to see it. This club's reason for existence is the eagerness of the members to explore all phases of art with friendly companions. ibedafing AINING c o n fi d ence, poise, and the ability to ex- press their ideas clearly and emphatically, the mem- bers of the Soldan-Blewett Debating Club have repre- sented our school in debates held over the entire city. During the past year, these students have visited other St. Louis schools and have argued the question of world federation. Their discussions, which have shown intelligent research and real understanding, have enabled them to be- come well-versed on the subject of international unification an d to gain knowledge of the principles of debating.
