Each leaf relates its particular role in the story. Using leaves as a theme, the 1959 Sodurkan will attempt to tell the story of another year in Sodus Central School.' For every aspect of our school life, we must include a leaf. The first leaf will tell of the heritage of our school. enty-five years ago, the class of 1934 produced the first rbook. They, too, were thinking of leaves, leaves which we share with them. Mongst the maples and the loCustS was their Alma Mater, and it is ours. Today the symbol of the maple and the locust leaves has been reborn. Our school seal has these same leaves in its background. Maple and locust trees have been planted on the school campus so that our school once again may bear their shade. Our second leaf must tell of the knowledge that we gather. New learning comes with each grade. As leaves Qwv-together-so we grow as we progress through the grades leaving each grade a new leaf in our uncompleted book of life. In time, we reach high school where we learn how to live in the world. All of our studies, each of our classes, trains us for the years following our formal schooling. We are prepared to build good homes and happy futures. The third leaf must tell of the extracurricular life in our school. In order that we may live a good life, our special abilities and interests are developed. Our extracurricular activities help us to appreciate, to unfold, and to grow. prise our schooling. If one of these is missing, our educa- tion will want. Our culture will lack. With the help of our community and our faculty, our Sodus Central School en- dows us with these things, the background which equips us to meet the challenges of life.
