The Dij family of Beneden Knype, Triesland. The Grootegoed family of Zetten and Ann. A.F.S. The American Field Service foreign exchange program, in its fourth year in Sodus, this year brought Helle jerlo from Denmark to become a member of the Kenneth Smith family and the S.C.S. senior class. Last summer Ann Linscott sailed to the Netherlands where she lived for six weeks with two Dutch families. During this year Helle and Ann shared their A.F.S. experiences with many organizations in Sodus and the surrounding area. Sodus March 17, 1959 Dear Teachers and Fellow Students, My year in Sodus is drawing to its end. I will soon have to leave, but, before I say, Goodby, and board the airplane, I want to thank all of you for things that you may not realize you have done because they were natural for you. In the beginning of the year when everything was new to me, I remember how you explained and made me under- stand what was going on around me. You opened the door to your many and wonderful activities which I have enjoyed so much. When I walked down the halls, there were always cheering hi's and-hello's. Little things meant so much. You have represented the American people in a way I will be proud to spread to my country-folks. Living with people, learning their ways, traditions, cus- toms-this is how you promote understanding. IN MEMORIAM EDWIN L. MCGOWAN August 24, 1941-April 5, 1956 We remember Eddie because, during his short time with us, he was one of us. We remember his good nature, his ready wit, his love for his home, his school, his church. We remember his courage. But most of all, We remember Eddie because he was touched by God.
