FOREWORD Sometime during the 16th Century, an English poet, James Heywood, wrote, Many hands make light work. The 1957 Soduskan staff keenly feels our community's interest in the activities of Sodus Central School, and therefore, chooses this proverb as a theme for our book. We know that the cooperation of our community provides attractive rooms for learning and capable men and women for teaching, makes its . Q N resources available for the educating of the youth of our town, and en- courages our student body by enjoying with us so many of our activities - our sports, our dramatic productions, our band and chorus concerts, and our yearbook. Each helping hand from the main street, from the side street, and from the country road, working with helpinghands in Sodus Central School bring inspiring foreign students to us and offer us the opportunity to go abroad. Thus, Sodus, a small rural community in New York State, becomes a part of our great world. These same helping hands provide not only advisory committees for our agriculture and homemaking depart- ments, but give them complete support in their various projects. There are numerous other times when we recognize the cooperation be- tween our Alma Mater and our hometown. Each hand offered creates a friendly spirit and healthy atmosphere for our growth, mental and physical. To each Soduskan it may seem little. The results are tremendous. Many hands make light work. A
