CD94 Among the noisy, shouting bunch streaming down Mill Street, September 7, was a slim, light- haired fellow who had voyaged five thousand miles across the top of the globe to walk into our school and into our lives. This year, our senior year, started, a rumble with magic expectancy. It had to be a year full of experiences worthy of marking a beginning and an ending. Part of it all was this same slim ambas- sador come to treat us to a new experience, an affair in international friendship. He was when he came, of course, only a symbol, but because of his visit, and anticipating a little, we decided early to make friendship the theme of our yearbook. Our last forty weeks in school proceeded, not often at a stately march but, usually, with a flashy change of pace, the way a halfback weaves eighty yards for a goal. As the excitement rose it be- came clear that our blond Norseman had slowly exchanged destinies, instead of a symbol he became a friend to all of us, the students, the townspeople, the teachers. Thanksgiving passed, Christmas was solemnized, Easter toiled its great great chords, echoing into the electricity of finals, and the quiet fellow from the ice-locked lakes of Finland had, indeed, unlocked our hearts.
