Published by the SENIOR CLASS of SNYDER HIGH SCHOOL Snyder, Colorado Standing: Mrs. Brunelli, Sponsor; Timothy, Dick, Bill, Luella, John, Gene, Dorothy, Donna. Sitting: Marlene, Jean Ann, Marilyn, Janice. Foreword The mind is a wonderful machine. It need but be just re- freshed and incidents can again be revived in their former clarity. As you turn the pages of this edition of the PIONEER we hope that it will bring back those cherished memories of Snyder High School. OUR MARILYN Dean Lamb will long be remembered for his sunny smile, his interest and popularity in the school and com- munity, and for his talents. After joining our class in the seventh grade, he worked his way into the hearts of his classmates, fellow students, and teachers. We were saddened by the news of his death on Sunday, July twenty- fourth, nineteen hundred and fifty four, but our halls are still ringing with the sound of his laughter and song. We, the Senior Class of nineteen hundred and fifty-six, in loving memory, dedicate this edition of the PIONEER to our cherished classmate. Superintendent ’s Message Orchids to the 1955-56 PIONEER staff and their sponsor, Mrs. Joseph Brunelli. In this new and beautiful edition you have recorded many of the highlights of our school. Now and in the years to come these events will be pleasant to recall and their intrinsic value will long be treasured. You seniors have indeed demonstrated the true value of all seniors before you that have worked as PIONEER staff mem- bers and continued to make improvements and refinements in this publication. I am especially proud of you and of your success in develop ing culture, social graces, and scholarship. So again I say, Orchids to the PIONEER staff and Senior Class of 1955-56. O. W. Outstanding Girl and Boy Jean Pierce and Dick Funk were chosen by the Snyder High School faculty this year as the Outstanding Senior Girl and Senior Boy. They were chosen because of their ac- ademic averages, leadership, personal interests and efforts to improve the standards of our school. Jean has been well liked by everyone throughout her years at Snyder because of her sweet smile and friendly personality. Dick has taken part in activities, organizations, and student government and was a student council representative that went to the State Student Council Convention. Jean and Dick, because of your many accomplishments, faithfulness, and loyalty to our school, we are proud to acclaim you as Outstanding Girl and Outstanding Boy of the 1956 Senior Class. Seniors LUELLA BISHOP TIMOTHY ARROYO DONNA PRANGLEY JEAN ANN PIERCE MARILYN FORREST BILL BECK JOHN GILMER 1956 RICHARD FUNK MARLENE ROTH GENE HALL DOROTHY BAKER Miami, Florida May 1966 Dear Mrs, Brunelli, The Class of 1956 held their first reunion in Snyder, Colorado, last week, I thought you might be interested to know what has become of us. I’ll give you a short resume'. After leaving Snyder, I stopped off in Chicago where I attended court before re- turning to my home in Miami, Florida. I'm thinking of giving up my job as a lawyer to devote more time to my husband. Bub Kubal, and my two boys and little girl. The former Jean Pierce finally married Billy Thompson and they now own a chain of Safeway stores. Between taking care of their two little boys and doing bookkeeping for their business, Jean is kept quite busy. Dick Funk finally won the heart of Wilella Brown after he convinced her that he wouldn't roll any more cars. By the way, they own a 66 DeSota with plenty of room for their six boys and girls. Mrs. Honebein, the former Marilyn Forrest, lives on a large cattle ranch in Texas with her hubby and four healthy boys. Marilyn is the foremost society leader in Texas. As you know, Donna Prangley was never one to make up her mind. After finish- ing Comptometer School she went on a six-week honeymoon with Leroy Toepfer. She is happy to be at home with Leroy and their blue-eyed triplets. Bill Beck, our shy classmate, owns a large, prosperous farm in Wisconsin and is engaged to a lovely lady who hails from Arizona. They plan to be married in June of ”67. After graduation from Miami Bible College in Florida, Luella and her husband, Davis Tappy, moved to Los Angeles, California, where they and their three blond-haired girls are quite happy. Luella is leaving next month to do mission- ary work for awhile in South Africa. Dorothy finally decided that Johnny Wallace wasn't the man of her dreams and she met and fell in love with Kenny Jones. Dorothy is a stenographer for C. W. Beery on a large cattle ranch while Kenny works and their three boys go to school. After several years as an airline hostess for T. W. A. the former Marlene Roth resigned. Love finally won out and she married a handsome young man from Denver. Marlene was married in the Garden of the Gods and had the most beautiful wedding ever to be had. Marlene and her husband are raising their four boys in Albany, New York. As you remember, Gene Hall was never able to make up his mind about which girl he liked best. Now that is is living in Florida where there are many beau- tiful women. Gene is having the time of his life. Gene inherited his fathers fortune so he doesn't have to work. He spends most of his time on his yacht, that lucky Gene. John Gilmer bought a partnership in the Pan American Airlines and he flies some of the planes himself. John is thinking of resigning and spending more time with his wife and two boys on their estate in Maine. I hate to cut this letter short about the class of ”56” but I just received a tele- gram from Tallahassee that I'm needed in court. I hope to hear from you soon.
