THE 19 55 B PRESENTE D BY THE SENIOR CLASS oi SNYDER HIGH SCHOOL SNYDER, COLO. DEDICATION We the Seniors of 1955, dedicate this Annual to Mr. 0. W. Garnett for his devoted time and untiring efforts to improve our school, build student character and develop healthy minds and bodies. Through these accomplishments he has made Snyder High School one of which we can all be proud to call our own. SUPERINTENDENT’S MESSAGE The 1954-55 “Pioneer” staff and their sponsor deserve the congratulations of the student body and teachers for this fine publication. This yearbook which records many of the high lights of our school will long be treasured by us as a pleasant reminder of friends we have made, courses of study we have taken, and of many other interesting endeavors carried on by our school. I am pleased to observe the growth and development of the students of our high school. Evidence of it can be noticed in our stature, our dress, our cooperation, our manners, and our thinking. A good balance of other ad- mirable qualities has been noticed, joy in work, fun at the proper time and place, and espe- cially in loyalty to our school and pride in our individual classes. All these things are com- mendable and make us happy. It has been a privilege to work with a fine group of highly trained teachers and an earnest industrious stu- dent body. May your future be interesting and successful. O. W. GARNETT Mft. GARNETT Superintendent Math. Algebra Science MRS. BRUCE English Civics MR. BRUNELLI Coach, Shop MR. KLEIN Typing. Am. Prob. Joann has been loved throughout her high school years for her cheerfulness and her friendly manner. Her wonderful sense of humor has made us all smile when we were discouraged. Don has taken an active part in our newly organized Student Government, he has been outstanding in sports, and he was chosen to represent our school in the Voice of Democracy contest in Brush. These are only a few of his many accomplishments. Joann and Don, because of your loyalty and your faithfulness, we salute you and acclaim you the Outstanding Girl, and the Outstanding Boy of the Class of 1955. CLASS PROPHECY We now take a look into the future careers of the Seniors of 1955. Now to take a look into the year 1965. Our quaint Shirley Becker had quite a hard time making up her mind as to what she wanted to do. She went to the Southwestern Bible College for two years, but finally decided to put her home economics to work. Shirley and Ellis were married and now live in Key West, Florida with their two children. Don Vondy attended Stanford University in Palo-Alto, California where he received his degree for Doctor of Medicine. He and the former Bea Lake were married. They now reside in San Francisco, California where they are now raising their two little honey-bea’s. Loretta Held finally met up with her Johnny three years after she graduated from S.H.S. Johnny and Loretta were married while he was on furlough. They now live on a 360 Acre ranch in New Mexico where they are raising their little boy. Ellis decided to attend Southwestern Bible College after he graduated from Snyder High School. He and Shirley were married upon his graduation from the College. They now live in Key West, Florida where he is acting as a Pastorate. Joann De Gryse went to Denver to work for the Prudential Life Insurance Company fol lowing her graduation from Snyder High. She has now risen to executive secretary of the company and resides in Washington, D. C. Joann is one of the favorite dates of the popular young Senators. The dashing, young bachelor, Stanley Walter, became a test driver for Ford Motor Com- pany upon his graduation from high school. Every time he steps from his bright red Ford Convertible the girls come flocking, but he can’t see any except his favorite three. Beverly Ginther began her nurse’s training at Eben-Ezer Hospital by working as a nurses aide. She later attended St. Lukes College in Denver and is now head nurse at the Mayo Brothers Clinic. Bev also acts as special nurse to her husband and their three children. Merle Ramsey attended the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs after his departure from S.H.S. He advanced so quickly that he is now a popular professor there. In spite of this trying position he still retains his bright red hair. Shirley Prangle is now a popular model for Powers Agency in New York City. Shirley has considered several proposals from local playboys and millionaires, but has never married. Her modeling career is the main attraction of her life, as yet! Bertha Bass did quite a bit of roaming for her first three years at Southwestern Bible Cojlege. She finally settled on Gene Arnold to whom she was married following her graduation. Bertha now provides the music for Gene’s Evangelistic Crusades. She and their two sets of twins travel with him. George Gleason, President of the world-famous “Dog Catchers Association.” He later married a cat fancier and they opened a large kennel in Boston. Massachusetts. The Gleasons also have five little puppy lovers. We sincerely hope you have enjoyed looking into the future careers of the Seniors of 1955.
