Text from Pages 1 - 68 of the 1953 volume:

We, the Senior Class of 1953, dedicate this annual to Mrs. Charles D. Morgan who sponsored us during our Junior Year and has been so helpful during our four years in Snyder High School. In appreciation for her interest and encouragement of our activities during those years, we express our sincere thanks. Compliments of FIRST NATIONAL BANK. Fort Morgan, Colo SUPERINTENDENT'S MESSAGE Congratulations on a job well done in publishing the 1953 edition of the Pioneers. The memories your yearbook will bring in years to come will be priceless. It is my strongest hope and desire that you have learned, as students in Snyder High School, to conduct yourselves in such a manner as to bring credit to yourselves, parents, school, state and nation. This book brings forth the actions of ourselves during the school year 1952-53. We are growing up. Evidence of it can be noticed in our stature, our dress, our cooperation, and our thinking. There are other evidences that can be noticed, these are loyalty, fun, and work, which are constantly showing in the actions of the students of our school. All these tnings are commendable and make Snyder High School something fine to appreciate now and remember later. Compliments of BERGHEIM'S CLOTHING, Fort Morgan, Colo. FACULTY MR. MORGAN MRS. We see many changes in our 1953 senior class. First let us take Leon Keener. Now Glen L. Keener finished college in 1951 as the first in his class. Two weeks later he started on one of the biggest engineering projects in the world. We haven’t heard much from his wife and triplets, let alone his other four. Another of the industrious seniors of 1953 is running one of the largest ranches around here. Keith Bruce went into the Army in the fall of 1953 and did his part in the service of his country. He then came back and has settled north of Snyder on the Bruce home- stead. He always said he wouldn't marry very young and he's still not married but has several prospects. Frances Hubbard took a job in the telephone office, but we hear she didn't stay too long. She is now in Padroni with her husband and family. Let's see, Frances wasn't his name Archie Tadolini? It seems we now have a little Archie and three other little Tadolinis. We still hear from our twins; however they are not together as they always were in school. Claude decided to make a career of the Navy. He went in right after high school and has been there ever since. We always wondered whether he and Lorna would finally team up but they didn't. Now our other twin. Chuck served four years with the Navy, too. He then returned to good old Snyder and, yes, you guessed it. The former Miss Emilie Pierce is now Mrs. Charles N. Clay. There seems to be some other little Claude and Charles around too, but if you'll look closely you'll see those are Emilie's and Chuck's twins. And of course there is another '53 senior, too, our Jerry Lewis of the class. He was driving a truck for a long time but one day last year he was down under the truck chang- ing a tire and as once before the trap door fell open on his head and he's been laid up for quite some time. His wife is having to earn the living. Yes, you guessed it. That's Keith Houston. Our slow Wesley has ended up to quite the person. He went to college for two years after getting out of high school and then joined up with the navy. He is now an Admiral. Do you believe it? Well we didn't either for awhile but he was home awhile back and sure enough it's so. Another of our girls now comes into the picture. Soon after Doris graduated we heard wedding bells for her. She is now Mrs. Luman New and is now living in California. While Luman works she stays home and takes care of their five children. Now we gaze into the future and we see the former Miss Joan Blair Bruce. We under- stand she went to college one year. However, though faithful and true, she was married. It is generally understood who she is mated. She then finished her last three years of school. She is now teaching at good old Snyder High School while her husband has a very famous western band. Little Dick Jr. has been in school two years, while little Joan Blair will start next year, besides the twins who are one year old. SENIOR CLASS WILL WESLEY wills his unpunctuality to Jeanie Forrest who is usually there ahead of time. KEITH BRUCE wills his gruff voice to Shirley Prangley who could sure use it. KEITH HOUSTON wills his chewing gum to Mrs. Morgan who likes it so well. LEON wills his build to Merle Ramsey who seems to need it badly. FRANCES wills her car to Mrs. Morgan because she likes to drive it so well. JOAN BLAIR wills her yen for argumentation to Joan Ann Beck. CLAUDE wills his quick temper to Marshall Summers. KEITH HOUSTON wills his easy goingness to Jeanie Forrest. CHUCK wills his beggar shots to Mr. Morgan because of his love for them. DORIS wills her meekness to Don Young who needs it badly. LEON wills his mathematical ability to Janet because she likes it so well. WESLEY wills his 29 inch waist to Mr. Morgan. LEON wills his preaching ability and absence of bad words to Gene Gilmer. FRANCES wills her loud speaking to Mr. Thomas Brown. CHUCK wills his enthusiasm for literature to Dickie Baker. KEITH BRUCE wills his ability to play the guitar to Don Young. We, the SENIOR CLASS of 1953 hereby do will and bequeath our good luck and good nat- ure to the three classes in high school and to the classes coming up to come to the happy institution of good old Snyder High.
