Producing the 1958 Archives has not always been easyg yet, after a year of planning, ob- taining pictorial records, writings, making drawings, and doing the innumerable other tasks, large and small, which go into the making of a school annual, we feel proud of our work. We have enjoyed every task. It is our sincere desire that this book in years to come will help the students relive their wonderful high school days. We hope that the events, experi- ences, and friends pictured here will remain forever in their memory. It is also our hope that the many people of our town who thumb through the pages of this book will draw from it a comprehensive picture of life in Smith- Cotton High School from the opening of school in September through Commencement in May. In this year, 1958, the year of Sputniks and sci- entific developments, the Archives also joins the rocket age. Throughout our pages is a little black missile, symbolizing our constant search for know- ledge. Here, then, is your 1958 Archives.
