1.-11-Y 53: Foreword In presenting this year's' volume of the Smith- Cotton Archives to you, we have endeavored to catch a few fleeting glimpses of the relatively short school year and to put them into tangible form. We feel that, when you read this book, it will mean more to you than simply a photographic coverage of the year's events: for here we have perpetuated some of the memories most pleasant to Smith-Cotton stu- dents .... memories of friendships with which stu- dents have been surrounded, of social events which Q Q helped liven the daily routine of study, of goals reach- ed only through hard work, and of the teachers whose primary interest is to provide a well-rounded educa- tion for the students. It is our intention that you will treasure these memories, but above all, that you will honor the true spirit of Smith-Cotton .... the spirit of high ideals, of democratic principles, and of cm rich and full educa- tion. It is with this desire that we present this, the 1957 Archives.
