Spring seems synonymous with the beehive of activity seen this time every year out on Smith-Cotton,s track. At first the Workouts seem a little strenuous as the ambitious track men stretch their legs after a long hard winter. Gradually things settle down, the poor athletes are Weeded out, and the Smith-Cotton track team emerges for its participation in contests. This season, as in former, years, dual meets with several schools have been sched- uled in order to give Coach Ralph Dow a line on his best men. So far the outstand- ing star seems to be speedy Bob Leftwich, who placed first in the high hurdles at the Kemper meet and first in the low hurdles at the Jefferson City meet. Bill Parsley placed first in the shotput at Jefferson City and Frank Armstrong took first in the high hurdles. The team hopes to achieve further success in the meets which are yet to come.
