Dean of Infraction Dr. Leonard S. Duncan Everyone wants to amount to something in the eyes of someone. No one finds pleasure in being a failure. I think that if I could live my life over again, I would spend less time pointing out to others their faults, their weaknesses; I would spend more time finding something to commend in each of my pupils, and in seeing to it that those words of commendation actually are delivered. We have no way of knowing how much good can be done by dropping a word of praise in the ear of someone who is hungry for recognition. 13 Leonard S. Duncan

Prejidenf of tho College Dr. Dale W. Hov To the Class of 1954: For each of you this acrostic: H onor -(Ideoos)-U nderstanding -teh4- E nthusiasm -M)- HUE is an interesting word. A hue can be a ghostly apparition radiated by one whose love is selfish, and only for self. A hue can be as beautiful and refreshing as a rainbow radiated by one whose love is for others. It all depends on how you love. In work or play Or in friends you choose, Select your loves For the rainbow hues. Dale W. Houk 12

The possibility of your success after graduation lies in the enthusiasm you show toward your work, and the energy which you expend. Patience, kindness, tolerance, and understanding toward others will help you succeed in your chosen profession. J. R. Eiler Dean of Men Mr. John R. Eiler It was Emerson who said, Let him go where he will, he can only find so much beauty or worth as he carries.” The zeal we have for study depends upon the zeal we bring to our books; the admiration we have for our Alma Mater depends upon the depths to which our admiration can go; the love we will have for teaching will depend upon the love we have for children, the sincerity we have in our work, the real desire we will have to be of service to all. Lois Harner Doan of Women Min Lois J. Harner To the Seniors: You have completed your internship and are ready to assume the full responsibilities of your profession. The way may not always be smooth, but no other work in the world is more gratifying. There will not be time enough for everything. “Hold fast that which is good,” but also pass it on to others. H. Lloyd Peters 14 A»ji»font Doan of Mon Mr. H. Lloyd Peter
