Director In the four short years which he has been here, Dr. Dale W. Houk, our president, has become such a popular and familiar figure on campus that it would be hard to think of Slippery Rock without immediately thinking of him. Through his capable leadership, the intellectual, moral, and social life of the college has progressed very rapidly. His pleasant smile and agreeable personality have made him a friend to all. Prior to accepting his present position at Slippery Rock, Dr. Houk was Supervising Principal of Forest Hills schools and Assistant County Superintendent of Allegheny County. He received his higher education at Park College in Missouri and the University of Pittsburgh. Because of his untiring efforts to be of service to the students of Slippery Rock as an administrator, educator, and friend, we pay tribute to Dr. Dale W. Houk. 16

Dr. Leonard S. Duncan — Production Director T Dr. Leonard S. Duncan, our Dean of Instruction, came to Slippery Rock in September of 1946. He is a graduate of Geneva College, and completed his post graduate work at Columbia University and the University of Pittsburgh. Formerly, Dr. Duncan served as a principal and a teacher of English at Rochester, Pennsylvania, and as a vice-principal and a teacher of English at Peabody High School in Pittsburgh. Dr. Duncan is one of the first we meet at Slippery Rock, and certainly one whom we shall always remember. His constant efforts in leadership, cooperation, and intelligent counseling have helped to make our college careers a richer experience and have helped to better prepare us for future life. 7
