Thanks to Dr. Sharkan and the newly created Student Advisory Council, something was done this year! Thanks to the SAC, there have been many changes in the school menu. Stu- dents were also inf volved in the plan- ning for our new high school. Under the direction of Mr. Horvath, the Future Business Leaders of America found out about the nreal world' from various guest speakers at their reg- ular Friday meetings. They also found time to plan and take a June field trip to New York City.

- s SLATE ' ' ' Slatington, Pennsylvania 1978 - 79 :A-73 swfs to success Ads, ads, and more ads was SLATEBS only hope this year to battle its fail- ing finances. Under Editor Heather MacCrindle and business manager Mary Bechtel SLATE staffers canvassed Slatington ringing up money. For the first time SLATE began to look like a real newspaper. Another new tradition was started when SLATE was given to every student at SHS and distributed throughout the community. By the time Suzette Nan- ovic became Editor in January, SLATE had become a household item. High- lighting school activities like the i X musical, Prom, and Student Council elections, SLATE is best remembered for its annual Senior Slate, honor- ing the graduating class of 'T9.
