Organized to provide students with the opportunity for complete self-scheduling, the "Mill" was the first system of its kind to be used in Oakland. The "Mill" was formed to let students set up. programs to fit their various needs. The purpose was to attempt to stabilize class enrollment earlier, which would eliminate many program changes. The "lVlill" decreased the number of transfers and increased the number of satisfied students throughout the year. Students gather outside the auditorium before going through the "lVlill" to self-schedule. At "Mill" conflict station, social science teacher Mr. Maurice Besse and Principal David Swanson aid Dietra Robinson, Jim Harper, Louis Kopecky, Nancy Peshon, and Sally Lowell. 12 FACULTY
