In 1931 it won the state championship, and this year under the able direction of James Beckwith, the band captured a rating of 1 in the state musical competition. There is a plaque on display in the auditorium which is the reward for that honor. An organization of 53 members, the band plays at most of the school assemblies and entertainments throughout the school year, and at concerts in the summer. Participants in such an organiza- tion will have a greater appreciation of music in later life. rw Death Sentence By INQL W r lsr NBLLIX The lllnc ss xxhlch vulrnmatod Ill .Ln opa ration Cdfllt upon Fred quttcr ae fl complete Qurprlso It sumul to hum th lt llfc stoppul Idcntlts blurrul Om hung up Ins pgrsonallty wuth hns Clotlus m tlu clout mrl bu mu 1 c uc thc pitunt lll Nurnlxr 12 'No longmr qultc 1 m m but 1 Cflllllltlflll 1 problcm strctchul out tlu rc for cl uly ax lYl1lIl xtum luukul down upon purul into chartul on pdpcr CYYIHI gr Lphs llkc thx rlsc md till Ill ilu prlcm of wheat It was tlns lTllllgIlltW fun mort th mn tha pam 'xml thc XXLRLXIILSS md tlu horulom that nmclg tlu Lxpcrlcnco KllHlClllt for hmm to buxr XII lus hfa uccpt for 1 tlmc lI1 Ins youth lu had ll ul robust lu mlth and the kmd of Content ment that goes mth lt Nlmor dlsdbllltlw fm clay or so harm 1 wuk thcrc though sometimes lrrltatmg had mxer Qlmkc n an unrlmrlylng snnsc of wall hung Nu mr bdrm had hc known what It meant to bc too vscary to look up to thc lulls at ox nnmg iur L sun bLIlLdlCtl0I1 or to fmcl pn lcc xn the meadows How well hc rcmmmbc rul mm the hlgllllllllg' of 1115 nllmss Xt hrst sly hlnts and ww lI'IllIlgS to uhlvh hc paul Sllgllf i.ttllltl0l1 Th: ry mn mormngs xxlun llc h ul no 10V m what In nm nor cared for what lu hcfml Xt hrst In kept quut md m uh 1 yuh of lt Wcakllngs sunt to doctors' There xurc moments of surprise momcnts oi mgxr md momcnts oi dim nrlght fear On the dav that lu wut ws my to thc hospxtfxl lu rnmcmhc rul x nldly BI Lry st llldlllg the rc ln the doom dy HQ km w sonutlung of w hat Qlu fmlt by the curx 0 xt the corner of her l1pQ .md thc curlous VSlthdI'l.V!I1 cxprusmn of lur myfs Thls pfuniul pfmrtmg was fm llllC'dlClll'l.tUl element of 111111 ss One 1G imglcd out for suffermg He goes alum he takes no om mth 111m He remembered the dxsmal rallroad Jourmy nom C1060 and hot Now that hw mmd had surrendered It was not all a.
