IUNIOR STATESMEN P2 i' x 1 JUNIOR STATESMEN To give students a better knowledge of the workings and problems of the govern- ment, a Junior Statesmen Chapter was organized in 1953. The members prepare for their future as citizens by learning democratic procedures and responsibili- ties. Attending regional and state con- ventions, holding discussions and debates on current political issues, visiting courts, newspaper offices and the state capitol, and promoting projects to improve school and community are activities of the Junior Statesmen. SOCIETY OF FRIENDS THROUGH DEMOCRACY The purpose of S.F.D. is to understand people of other countries Speeches ictures and letters to students in other lands are some of the ways the club P 1 worked to promote world friendship. gig, I 46 fl ye S.F.D.-Front Row: Marilyn Patterson, Rosemarie Silva Carol Ciocci Ramona Hershey Dorothy Ding C- Syfhboy man, Rita Denning, Roy Trumbull, Heide Gehrhardt Barbara Hellmuth Karen Hein Second Row Ber Off om 0 De nie Waldbillig, Mr. Lopez, adviser, Linda Randal, Nancy Cummings Elsa Baptiste Lyndon O Brien Dave ,Q sfo' mot' oc Fong, Dwite Brown, Aileen Bennett, Barbara Mason Sharon Bell Back Row Bob Young Doug Burnham e Cop,,of Harold Walker, Deen Warren, Ken Navas, Charles Youngclaus Loren Yaungclaus Diana Meyer Bar bara Graham. 96
