This year marked the first anniversary of the Public Relations Committee, which was formed in order to improve Drake's relations with the immediate neighborhood. Headed by Dave Allen in the fall, the committee had several cleanup drives after school to rid the surrounding streets of carelessly dropped lunch bags and garbage. The tracking down of neighbors' complaints is another job of this diligent committee. With the coming of spring, Laddie Zumwalt took over the reins of the Public Relations Com' mittee. Neighbors' complaints were virtually stifled after the installation of trash cans in strategic spots along Saunders Avenue. Students who are prone to walk about during lunch hour put their papers in the cans instead of festooning the landscape with them. This committee was one of the most vital and carried out its work carefully and efficiently. The Spring Program Committee, under Dick Cady, helped to plan the programs given by the freshman, sophomore, and iuni-or classes. The College of Pacific orchestra presented an enter- taining musical program later in the spring. School talent was discovered, or rather uncovered, in various other presentations. The climax to a year of some great entertainment was the Senior Farewell, a side-splitting end to a successful year. S-L-U-R-P goes the paint brush as it smooches over a length of butcher paper in the process of becoming a dance poster. The Spring Publicity Committee, headed by Wayne Rubin, was composed of a member of each school organization, as well as the usual sign-ups, so that all the clubs could benefit from the committee's work. Newspaper and radio advertisement was offered in addition to poster publicity. Extensive work was put in on the Variety Show and the many school dances. P-osters by the talented group broke up the monotony of blank gray cement walls as well as ad- vertising coming attractions.
