Golf The golf team was the pride and joy of Simpson this year. With coach John L. Sullivan at the helm, the team won eight of their eleven meets and tied one. With exceptionally good showing our team placed first in both the Drake Invitationals and Iowa Conference meets with Bill O'Connor playing the best round (medalist) in both encounters. In addition to this, our team ranked nineteenth in the NATIONALS with Gary Kendle having the fifth best score of the tournament. It is not exactly clear what the connection is between golf and grades, but it seems a little more than coincidence that each of the five men on the golf team had a 3.5 or better last semester, Gary Kendle being the four pointer of the group. With most of this year's team returning next year we can certainly expect another great year. Good luck team! 142 McCormick Cheerleaders Dawn Nebel Lynn Champlin Trish Brashears Karen Tannatt Judi White Ginny Hilmers Kresge I DORM COUNCIL: Row I—(L. to R.) K. Brown. $. LympuS. Mrs. Cherry. M. Founded on April 28, 1867, at Monmouth College. Monmouth. Illinois, Pi Beta Phi was the first organization of its kind for young women. Nearly 900,000 past initiates of 111 chapters, an altruistic Settlement School at Gatlinberg, Tennessee, and a century of worthwhile contributions from its young women all acknowledge a strong heritage. As Pi Beta Phi celebrates its one-hundredth year, it hopes to begin another century of sisterhood, moral strength, and independent spirit. 172 I Pi Beta Phi has seen high achievement in its cen- tennial year, mixed with hard work and an enjoyable social life. Placing first in the Homecoming Float competition, All College Sing, and second in Bar- bershop Quartet contest and All-College scholastic competition all illustrate cooperative effort. Individual honors went to Carla Johnson and Anne Ogan as Most Representative Women and members of Gold Key, to Cindy Anderson as Red- men Relays Queen, and to Coreen Cordova and Jan Lokay as winners of college Forensic Trophy. The Pi Phis are hoping for future years to be as successful as was 1966-1967. 173 Cindy Anderson, Redman Relays Queen. 0. J. Barakat Pres. S. M. Wood Vice Pres. Alpha Tau Omega E. Campbell M. G. Baughman ATO, '66- 67 Alpha Tau Omega Sweetheart Joanne Coffin, receive! crown from president Barakat, at Spring Formal, as Mike Bruner presents her with a dozen roses. In Brief Through a combination of hard work and good times, the men of the gold and blue had another great year. The fall began with the pledging of twenty two men. Tradition held again, as the Taus gave a good representation in intramural sports, taking first place in football, wrestling, and 'A' basketball. In December, the under- privileged children of the community were treated to the annual ATO Christmas party. Spring rolled in, and Alpha Tau Omega put in many hours of hard work to capture the Mini-Orph trophy. Later on, the Taus raised over $100.00 for the American Heart Association by soliciting donations in Norwalk. It was a very good year in all respects, brought about only by the close friendship amongst the brothers of Alpha Tau Omega. 176 Big Santa, Hargis, brings happiness to his little guests at annual Christmas Party. Ouch! Brown and pledge son Weekland have board exchange at fall party. Only way into Taus' Tom Jones Party is down through the outhoyse. In athletics, we won the intramural trophy, in addition to placing many men on all of the varsity athletic squads. Sigma Alpha Epsilon placed second in both campus singing competitions. Shown here is our entry In the All-College Sing competition. Sam Martin was elected to the Presidency of the Student Body. Leadership is another of the qualities stressed at SAE. In addition to Sam, we are represented on the campus by several other men who are interested in good government at Simpson. 191 EATONS STUDIO PORTRAITS COMMERCIAL PHOTOGRAPHY WEDDINGS We Wish To Express Our Thanks for Your Patronage HUMMEL'S CHRYSLER-PLYMOUTH 206 W.
