jill Qty f What a beautiful morning! It is mid-October. The brisk Fall air feels good to the lungs. It is early - 6:15 A.M. - and dark. The Silver State parking lot is qui- et. Only the birds are chirping. The sun is still asleep. No one is stirring. But, wait a minute! What's this? Two headlights ap- pear - and two more - and, it's incredible, two more. Cars are filling the parking lot. Gasoline fumes sear the nostrils. Laughter suddenly ripples through the air. Why it's the Silver State Patriot Marching Band. At this time? Yes, but where are they going? They are going to Fort Morgan. They are going to Ar- vada. They are going to Lakewood on Parade. They are going to Greeley. They are going downtown to the Parade of lights. They are going to the Silver State football game. And they are winning. Winning, you say? Why they are winning first place at Fort Morgan! They are win- ning a trophy in Lakewood and second place at Arva- da's Harvest Festival. And, did you know they received straight superior ratings last year at Greeley? What's that? No! Where? El Paso! How? Maybe, who knows? But who are the pretty girls in the blue outfits? They even have a color guard. That does it - Iet's go join the band! Walt a minute.
