Bulldog Barker Staff nm 1ST ROW Left to Right Charles Layton, Larry Jenkins, Patsy Davis, Larry Nickens, Homer Bates Mrs Statler ZND ROW: Margaret Manley, Louise Dirickson, Shirley Seyer, Sue Watkins, David Bailey 3RD ROW Joe Miles, Melvin Dace, David Morris, Virginia Blackwelder. , 'Bulldog Barker Staff Getting out a school newspaper is quite a task. Gathering the news, writing and editing it, and finally printing it in the paper con- stitutes a full time job. The publishing of the Bulldog Barker is the responsibility of the journalism class. Throughout the year, the snoops, as our reporters are called, could be seen hard at work as we endeavored to meet the deadline of 3:00 Friday afternoon. As we look back over the year, we truly wonder how we ever managed to do ll a that work every week. However, maybe the word work is the wrong word--it was actually fun. Yes, publishing the Barker h as been a very enjoyable experience. At tirnes we wondered if we would ever meet that deadline, but we always managed it. As do all people who accomplish something, we take pride in' the Barker. The purposes of the school newspaper are to inform students, entertain them, and arouse a spirit of pride in them. Judg- ing from the many accomplishments of Sikeston High School students this past year, it seems that the Barker attained these goals. As we look back over it all, we can say that those sixth hour Journalism periods which we spent working on the Barker, are the embodiment of the old phrase, iutirne well spent. Larry Jenkins
