I p T ep Sully Sop omores The Sophomore class of 1953-'54 was comp-osed of 164 members. There were 96 boys and 68 girls. . Class officers, elected at the first class meeting, were Charles Limbaugh, Presidentg Don Keller, Vice-Presidentg,Barbara Lackey, Secretary, and Robb Monroe, Treasurer. - . Student Council representatives were Carolyn Albritt S on, ara Canedy, Abe Hunter, Carol Joyner, Jim Ponder, and John Watts, long termg and Glenda Alley, Jerry Baugh, Carolyn Cren- shaw, Mary Etta Duncan, Ronnie Fagan, Jerome Hulehan, Judy Murback, Bob Jines, Don Nichol- son, James Cden, Judy Watkins, and Russel Tanner, short term. The class was well represented in all activities. There were twenty-seven Sophomore band members and three twirlers. Six were in the mixed chorus. Thirty-one were in the Dramatics Club, with three playing leading roles in State Fair, Many girls were in the Red Peppers, and Judy Watkins was the Sophomore cheerleader. Fourteen Sophomores were provisional members of the Honor Society. These were Nancy Bowman, Carolyn Crenshaw, Ronnie Fagan, Linda French, Shirley Foster, Abe Hunter, Don Keller, Barbara Lackey, Charles Lirnbaugh, Boykin McCaa, Carol McFerron, Judy Murback, Jo Ellen Standley, and Jerome Hulehan. Seven Sophomore s. w th ere on e Debate squad, and all of these were members of the National Forensic League. There were four Sophomore boys in the Photography Club. In both the F. F. A. and the F. H. A., the class was well represented. In s t th b ' ' por s e oys made a fine showing. There were four provisional letterm n o th e n e football team. The class was represented on the basketball team by nine boys. Jud M b J y, ur ack was chosen F. F. A. queen at the annual Barnwarming. Boykin McCaa went on the Sophomore Pilgrirnage to Jefferson City. With th h 1 e e p of our sponsors the Sophomores sponsored the traditional I-lomecomin 8 Dance on October 30th. Our sponsors were Mrs. Ida Baker, Miss Uriel Haw, Mr. Garrett O'Dell, Mr. Jack Sullivant, Mrs. Carl Walker, and Mr. Robert Walker.
