toorD anti SUSANNE WARREN Editor MIKE GRIGGS Associate Editor Setting the atmosphere for Sierra ' s newsroom is the syncopated music of clicking typewriters and the pressure of constant deadlines. The problems of publishing an edition of the Sword and Shield every two weeks are unique to the members of ML lOO ' s fourth estate, for in no other place on campus are students engaged in such activity as this. Gallons of paste and glue, reams of copy paper, and a hundred typewriter ribbons annually are not all that go into a school newspaper. The frantic frenzied hunt for the right word to describe that lost football game or the big question mark in the mind as to whether or not the issue will be full of holes — or even if it will appear on its regular Friday noon schedule — are all a vital part of every reporter and editor ' s life as a Spartan journalist. No one else can experience the relief of a dead- line past and a paper gone to press; but neither can anyone other than a reporter feel the satisfaction of seeing his story in print.
