MR. DON STILLWELL Head Coach VARSlt Victory again hailed the varsity football team as the mighty Spartan gridders went into another sea- son and came out on top for the second consecutive year. The pre-season play started out with wins over Santa Fe and Los Altos; then come a 6-14 defeat to the Don ' s of El Rancho, followed by a 0-0 tie with Cal Hi. ;,jj.i.j The regular Suburban Le fe schedule began with a 24-6 victory over the -pRion Pioneers, and in the following weeks Sierra dominated league play with wins over La Mirada, Mciyfair, and Pioneer High Schools. The important La Serna game cinched the Subur- ban League Championship for Sierra and sent the Spartan team into C.I.F. competition, where it was unable to surmount the more powerful Spartans of West Covina, who won the game by a score of 12-0.
