Oh no, I'm nof allowed fo fhinlr of fhafg fhe idea is foo unpleas- anf. I have had a very good fime here in Sidney wifh you and wifh my dad, mom, and sisfer, Ray, Inez, and Marilyn Maley. All fhe love I gof from fhem didn'f malre me feel homesiclr only one day. I am sure fhis will be fhe mosf wonderful year of my life. Before I came fo America, I had several preiudices as far as you and your counfry were concerned. I fhoughf every- fhing fhaf would be impossible in Europe is more or less nafural in fhe Unifed Sfafes. As far as I Icnew fhe people dressed as gay parrofs. This is whaf I was fold, whaf I saw in fhe movies, whaf was wriffen in fhe newspapers, and whaff was senf ouf over fhe radio. Abouf if I had my doubfs from fhe beginning, buf I did nof have a chance 'lo hear how if really was. I fhinlr you can imagine how happy I was when I heard I would be allowed fo sfay one whole year in fhe Unifed Sfafes. I jumped wifh ioy. When I am going back fo Germany I can fell besides all fhe nice 'rhings I have seen and parficipafed in fhaf fhe Americans are iusf as normal as we are. The inhabifanfs of Sidney and fhe sfudenfs and feachers of Sidney High School are wonderful people. I am very, very happy here. As far as fhe school sysfem is concerned fhere is a rafher big difference befween yours and ours. We have fhirfeen subiecfs as requiremenfs so our schedule Ioolrs more Iilxe a college one because we only fake some of fhese courses each day. We only go fo school unfil fwelve fhirfy or one fiffeen in fhe affernoon. Thaf is all for fhe whole day, buf we have +o do all worlz al' home.
