Wheels began rolling as senior officers were elected Gov ernor was Wayne Willard Lt Governor Mary Ellen Llvmgston Secretary of State Jaan Pelrson and Secretary of the Treasury Ma rllyn Kretz .uw-9 OUR FIRST TRAIN RIDE' As we leave the tram in l950 we pause to look back over the years we have experienced in S H S Remember the day we boarded this tram as green little freshmen? The wheels began to roll after nnltlatuon when we were officially regarded as members of S H S Lead mg the way was our governor Mary Ellen Livingston Lt Governor Jaan Pierson Secretary Marilyn Kretz and Treasurer Clairelyn Lyngholm Keeping up the school spmt were our freshmen cheerleaders Marilyn Kretz Mary Ellen Livingston Katie Hazlewood and Joan Pierson Bouquets to our basketball team as they came out undefeated At the end of our strange and exciting year we celebrated by having a plcnnc at the Polnt of Rocks Senior Legislature, left to right, Speaker, Phyllis Refior, and legislators, Glenes Block, Peggy Cossey, Eldora Kampbell, Janis Beimers, Mary Fonda, Clairelyn Lyngholm and Robert Steffins.

ALL ABOARD FOR OUR SECOND YEAR AT SIDNEY HIGH SCHOOL We started off on the rught track by entertaunung the frosh at the furst all school dance of the year Phyllus Refuor was elected governor whule Dale Buehrer Claurelyn Lyngholm and Bob Montgomery respectuvely were Lt Governor Secretary and Treas urer Three members of our class Jo Puerson Rex Sample and Wulmer Brauer were cast un the leadung roles of the operetta Purple Towers Among those leadung un athletucs were Dale Bueh rer Ronald Ovenden and Robert Montgomery In the sprung we gave a program for the enjoy ment of the other classes un Sudney Hugh lt uncluded musucal numbers comucal skuts and a fulm Etuquette at the Junuor Prom As un years past sophues were chosen to serve and entertaun at the Junuor Senuor Banquet We roared on unto the state where we considered ourselves upper classmen leven uf the senuors dldn tl This year all gurls truumphed un the electrons Jeanne Muller became governor Clarrelyn Lyngholm Lt Gov ernor Maryorle Adams Secretary and Mary Fonda Treasurer After sponsorung an all school dance ln the fall much work was put unto the class play The Sunshine Twlns with Mr Crouse as our director The Ieadrng roles were played by Richard Gudeon and Teresa All man We considered ourselves a class of dustmctuon be cause we were the representatives of the hrst Corn husker County Government Day held un Cheyenne County In the sprung representung Sudney at Corn husker Boys and Gurls States at Luncoln were Wayne Wlllard and Clalrelyn Lyngholm. The thnlllng day arruved when we received our class rlngs Ours of course were the prettlest ones yet lWe thought so anyway l The local wmner of the Oratorlcal Contest was Rex Sample Teresa Allman also partlclpated rn the local contest On May 20th we were host to the senuors at the annual Junior Sensor Banquet Our theme was The Fortynlners un honor of the class of I949 Mary Ellen Luvungston was crowned S Club Queen at the annual S Club Dance held after the Pep Club Banquet Wlndung up the year we went to Greenwood for our annual plcnlc PULLING INTO THE STATION At last we have reached the peak of our uourney We are now fullfledged senuors As governor Wayne Wullard was elected Mary Ellen Luvungston was Lt Governor Joan Puerson was Secretary of State and Marulyn Kretz was Treasurer We presented the furst program of the year The settung was a county faur We had more and better On November Zl all senuor gurls were guests at a tea guven by the P E O Furst semester exams were over and everyone was hoppy The senuors tradutuonally sponsored 0 Cl-msfmos Cotulluon Much work was guven to the affaur and crown ed as kung and queen were Dale Buehrer and Phyllus Refuor tThus sprung the uunuors gave us a wonderful ban que Our school days are comung to an end at Sudney Hugh Are we all really as happy as we thought we would be? lt us a nuce feelung to be holdung a duploma but we are not ready to take the bug step out unto the dark great unknown Honor students were valeductoruan Mary Ellen Luvungston Salutatoruan Claurelyn Lyngholm and Phyllus Refuor as thurd Ronald Ovenden as fourth and Marulyn Kretz as fufth So Long' . .
