STUDENTS LEARN INDUSTRY DF TODAY The biggest news in the lndus- trial Arts Department this year was the shuffle in personnel. Mr. Greg Allen, a Ball State graduate, was the new woods instructor. Mr. Ford Fiatcliff moved in to take over the Graphic Arts lab. Although the program at Shor- tridge was non-vocational, the instructors focused on trying to train the students in the basic knowledge of industrial processes in our society, ac- cording to Mr. Ratcliff. Aside from providing a practi- cal educational experience, the Industrial Arts Department served every student at Shor- tridge. Printing students put out The Echo, as well as tickets and programs, using conven- tional and advanced tech- niques. Ms. Chris Libbs taught the fifteen students enrolled in this new venture. A darkroom was con- structed in the Industrial Arts wing and second semester stu- dents learned how to develop their own pictures. Leathersmith, Susan Eckely, vis- ited the Art Classes for two weeks as an artist-in-residence. The artist-in-residence program is sponsored by the Fine Arts Committee of the P.T.A. Anthony Stewart works skillfully to create a ceramic masterpiece. 28
