"As I have heard the merits of public
education debated in the past two dec-
ades, I appreciate the opportunity to
point with pride to Shortridge High
School as an important answer to those
who would question faith in democratic
institution, and the public schools, 'in
particular. I have remained excited
about the potential of Shortridge High
School in 1975 as I was in the fall of 1947
when I entered Shortridge High School
for the first time. For a quarter-centuary,
Shortridge High School has met the chal-
lenges and enjoyed the adventures of
dynamic change in our society."
