I6 it Ki Foreign Language broadens cultural horizons To add new flavor to your life, study a foreign language. It will broaden your cultural horizons and deepen your understanding of other people. Shortridge students can study five different foreign languages: Spanish, German, Russian, French and Latin. With the help of the Indiana University Honors Program, presently in its twelfth year, students immersed themselves in their favorite foreign language during the summer of their junior year. Surviving rigorous preliminary competition, they lived in a foreign country with foreign parents who spoke the foreign language they were learning at Shortridge. If you were not inclined towards an overseas experience. you may want to participate in one of the foreign language clubs at Shortridge. Museum field trips and going to foreign language films and lectures with other club members are among the out-of- class itinerary. There are also pinatas to break, French cooking to eat. and a German Oktoberfest to celebrate. There is no greater compliment to another culture than to express yourself in its language. In an age where human brotherhood is the keynote, you owe it to yourself to learn to communicate in a foreign language and add a new dimension to your life and personality. Learn a foreign language. The Shortridge Foreign Language Department wants YOU. Gregory Leigh's attention is held spellbound in Mr. Baker's Spanish class. Miss Rieter shares a good laugh with her German 5 class.
