Foreign countries welcome language students We have been successful in people participating in the I. U. Honors Pro- gram, said lVliss Louise Reiter, Language Department Head. Last year vve had four participants going to France, Ger- many and Italy. Other programs with Shortridge students vvere: AFS lAmer- ican Field Servicel, YFU lYouth for Understandingl, and ACTFL lAmerican Council of Teachers of Foreign Languageslf' Planned for this year was Language Day which ended with a program in the Auditorium. Some schools have dropped Latin and Russian, but Shortridge continued these languages along with French, Spanish and German. IVIr. David Hammer's beginning French l class learns hovv important it is to count in French numbers from one to thirty.
