Home Economics, Ind. Arts Show Talent Fine furniture was designed and made by Wood Shop students in the Industrial Arts Department this past year. Students enrolled in Graphic Arts received on-the-iob-training . These students helped print the Shortridge Daily Echo and other publications, put out during the school year. Other Wood Shop students learned welding and industrial skills. New to the department this year, was Mr. Don McCaully, linotype operator in Graphic Arts. While advanced Home Economics students kept up with the latest styles, they also experimented with new ideas. Beginning students sometimes became professional zipper rippers, ripping out many of the zippers they had worked so hard to put in their clothes. Proper diet and cooking techniques were taught in Foods classes. Cooking simple foods and then moving ahead to gourmet items, the advanced stu- dents became the pride of the Home Ec. department. Family living students analyzed domestic problems in class. They ex- changed ideas on divorce, marital ad- iustment and child care problems. Chop...chop...chop...chop...Witha smile on his face, Fred Curbon runs the cutting machine in the print shop. Wrapping freshly printed attendance cards is iust one of many chores students undertake in the print shop, Michael Ney, and Rick Arthur, show how it's done. An attentive Duane Maddox watches while Mr. Burnel Coulon gives a bit of needed advice on the use of the print shop equipment.
