Introduction to Social Science and Civics were incorporated into the cur- riculum of the Social Studies Depart- ment Iast year. Several History classes used a new type of presentation-film loops. The film loop was a silent 8mm docu- mentary film, about five minutes in length. These films thoroughly de- veloped a particular period in history. Psychology classes were given a boost this past year by the use of new experimental equipment. Color scheme study and personality exami- nation gave variety to the class. One project of particular interest to the students was an experiment on group consensus. Spring semester electives offered in the department included International Relations, Values and Issues, and En- glish History. Discussion of ideas added to class interest. Kenny Manson acts as bailff during a mock Supreme Court session, while Jim Lambert sits on the Federal Supreme Court bench.

Calculus students learned advanced mathematic techniques under the guidance of Principal R. Lloyd Green. Many Geometry students dis- covered that knowing a square from a triangle iust wasn't enough. Students not only had to find answers, they were also expected to prove them! Learning the rules of Plane Geometry was the first task for these students. Algebra l-IV students were in- structed on everything from the His- tory of Algebra in their first semester, to the use of the slide in Algebra Ill. Another brain strainer offered by the Math Department was a combined course of College Algebra and Trigo- nometry, called Pre-Calculus.
