During Christmas vacation the Devils beat Goshen 76-67 to win the Goshen Tourney. Returning home the Satan fourteen- game winning streak was halted by Washington in the semi-final round of the City tourney. The team captured their second sectional crown as they trounced Cha- tard 82-43. Using the new Pizza defense, the Satans struck revenge as they dumped Washington 72-60 to earn a spot in the Sweet Sixteen. The first game of the semi-state saw the Blue Devils battle Columbus 88-77 and then beat Richmond 81-58 to win their first semi-state crown. During the opening gome of the state finals, Shortridge had to press to defeat Marion 58-56, winning by Oscar Evans ' last-second shot.
