Scholarship is more than reading and memorization. It is acquiring an understanding if a subject and then learning how to apph this knowledge. Shortridgers have helped build some of these links. Through their work in the American Field Service program Shortridgers from here and abroad have helped us to understand people of other lands. Indiana University language exchange students have brought in- creased knowledge ol language and people back to Short- ridge and have taken a part of Shortridgc with them. Members of Overseas Club and Human Relations Council have learned to understand other peoples-those of dif- ferent backgrounds, appearances and beliefs.
