Will fiend College Looks easy, doesn't it? English class tries out the mzke ranging from Latin I through German VIII are offered. Of the English, math, and language departments, it may be said, C'est si bon! Click, click. go the typewriters, brrrr goes the bell! Five mistakes? Oh, dear. Typing, plus shorthand, business arithmetic and many other valuable courses are offered to the business prep student. Arts and crafts is another practical depart- ment. Our students in this department do every- thing but build a house to live in! Do, re, me fa, sol, la, ti. do! Shortridge music lovers, alias Martin, Calvert, and Wise aspirants, have lots of fun and enjoy many varied activi- ties as they receive wonderful training in their various fields. Shortridgers may participate in orchestra, band. and choral groups. A relief from using only the gray matter in our upper regions comes when the boys and girls participate in the many physical education activ- ities, from calisthenics to rhythmic exercises. Our athletics department is large, too, and includes everything except tiddly-winks for SHS- ers of all ages, in all sports, intramural to varsity. Accurate work is required for crafts class. 70 er ent of Seniors that they are prepared to enter college or the business world as well prepared as any high school graduate with whom they may come into contact. Shortridge offers a wide and varied curriculum, including 12 departments. This year Shortridge kept right in step with many of the progressive schools over the country who have begun de- velopmental reading courses as part of their Eng- lish department. Our English department also offers many interesting elective courses as well as the required ones. Opportunities for mathematics training at Shortridge are very good, if the fact that each year our students take many top places in the state math contests is an indication. Although only one year is required for graduation. I1 firm foundation for college work may be acquired from the many math courses. The interested language student may also get a strong background at Shortridge, as courses Lower-F-Yum! Yum! How 'bout cz cookie? Right-Artist works for coveted honor key. M----A- + ' . ',, .
