Literar Tradition
Spectra was originated last year as a i
istudent literary publication to e
give students the opportunity for creative
iexpression. Organized as an after-school '
factivity, advised by Miss Margaret Newell
and Mrs. Gail Evans,
ithe staff sponsored contests to encourage
lrnore student participation. The best contest
entries in the areas of essay, short story
'and poetry, as judged by the Editorial Board
fwere selected as contest winners.
The winning entries were given added
'recognition in the one Spectra issue
which appeared in April. Working
Qwith the Editorial Board, which selected
fall manuscripts to appear in
the magazine, were the art and layout
gcommittee and the publicity committee.
Encouraging all students to enter manuscripts
lin the Spectra contest was the main project
of the publicity committee. From left,
