The next mormng my asslgnment was to keep watch on Room 808 It seems that a Home Ec teacher was sufferrng from shock Yes 1t was QIANET BAKERJ I later learned that whlle Janet was teachmg one day she was surprlsed by a skunk that ran rlght a cross the floor Ianet was so exclted that she Jumped upon a table and practlcally went 1nto hysterlcs We also learned later that the skunk was a pet and qulte harmless Janet was released after a few days Then I was told one afternoon that a sallor had just about drowned that mornlng Now thrs drd seem unusual so I walked down to the room where they told me the sallor was VVhy yes of course last as he always was but not least was KBEVO FRANCISQ Bevo old me he was set on makrng the Navy a career after he was out of hlgh school I asked n1m lf they dldn t teach them to swlm ln the Navy He told me they d1d Then I asked hrm why he had almost drowned He lay there for a whlle then as h1s face turned a brllllant red he told me the whole story It seemed that he was on board a b1g ocean l1ner and as lt was pulllng away from the dock he was leanrng out a port hole wavlng at a WAVE standlng on the dock One of h1s shlpmates from behlnd made hlm acqualnted wlth a wave twenty feet below It was early one sprlng mornlng as I walked toward the hosprtal The fresh fragrance of sprlng flowers fllled the a1r and blrds slnglng 1n the newly leaved trees gave me a feel lng of warmth and securlty I was thlnklng of the days hke thls when we had walked to chool countlng the days untfl lt would be out As I entered the hospltal I saw them takmg a patrent 1nto a room down the hall I was told lt was a school teacher so later ln the mornlng I thought I would cheer her up by takrng her some flowers from the garden behlnd the hospltal As I put the flowers down and turned toward the patlent I couldn t even move for who should lt be but our senlor class advlser K-M58 HUSTONQ She told me that whlle she was slttlng at her kltchen table one mormng she saw some dogs 1n her sheep She grabbed her shotgun and ran out the back door VV'l'11l9 trylng to Jump over the fence she caught her foot be tween the ra1l1ngs and she had done lt agarn sprarned her ankle I told her about all of my classmates that I had met whlle worklng at the hospltal She told me that she was st1ll mlsplaclng her purse As I was ready to leave the room Mrs Huston turned to me and sald That Senlor Class of 1957 stands out ln my mlnd very much I thlnk that each and everyone of them has hved pretty close to the class motto 'Why yes I never thought of lt before but they have got TO THE STARS THROUGH DIFFIC ULT IES ' ' I ' .
