ENGLISH In the three grades there are ten teachers who daily encourage students in the use of good grammar , spelling, and literature. On this page there is not adequate space for pictures of all ten of the teachers, but elsewhere in the yearbook these teachers are pictured in other classes, organizations or activities. The names of the ten teachers are: MRS. BARNETT, MRS. DANNETTELLE , MRS . DITT- MER, MR, FINLEY, MRS. HARRELL, MR. HIGGS, MRS. KELLY, MR. LAMBERTUS , MRS. LIAN, MISS MAUPIN. Grammar, literature, spelling, and seventh grade reading according to SRA Reading Laboratory activities are all included and considered essential characteristics of an adequate program in the language arts . Student participation in experiences with speaking, writing, reading, and listening makes for a well-integrated English program for grades seven, eight, and nine. MA THEM A TICS The modern mathematics program in the seventh and eighth grades provides a cur- riculum for the students that enables them to gain an insight necessary to achieve success in mathematical understanding. In the ninth grade the students may choose between a course in algebra or a course in general mathematics. Both courses are so designed to give students an adequate knowledge of higher mathematics. The five teachers whose pictures appear below are those that guide the students in their mathematical processes. MISS SWENGEL MR. OTTE MR. STEINBERGER MR. MARTIN MR.
