WRESTLING MR. PATTISON, MR. HACKER, COACHES Although amateur wrestling has achieved its greatest popularity within the last two decades, it is by no means a new sport. Wrestling is of value to any athletic program because it gives the small boy, as well as the larger boys a chance to actively participate in varsity competition. Wrestling, although relatively new in the Seymour School system, shows promise as an up and coming spectator sport. JUNIOR HIGH WRESTLERS Row 3 (left to right): Terry Underwood, Stan Stradley, Pete Moss, Bill Deschner Row 2 (left to right): Tim Smith, Denis Wendel, John Hill, Pat Tracy, Tom Hemmer Row 1 (left to right): Don Hargis, Jeff Culp, James Doolan, Max Neville, Sam Wright PEP CLUB OF SHIELDS JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL MR. WINTIN, SPONSOR This year for the first time our school has an organization known as the PEP CLUB. Its membership is about two hundred, including the cheerleaders and athletes who automatically become members by virtue of their abilities. The members of the club pledged themselves to abide by the rules set forth in the constitution of the organization. Each member was admitted to the Shields Junior High athletic events by a Pep Club card which was purchased during the organization process of the club. Enthusiasm has waxed high at the games this year and members of the club not only attended the games of their own particular class, but the games of all three classes. The Pep Band, under the direction of Mr. Gregory, deserves much credit for its mu- sical renditions at the games during the season. The organization of the PEP CLUB and the PEP BAND instilled a new enthusiam for the Junior High games. 58
